Meant To Be Jazz
Glenn Merritt is originally from New York City. He has been playing music since he was a youngster. He studied classical piano and music theory at Manhattan College of Music. At 15, he was a percussionist for Willie Sossa’s Salsa band. He played electric bass in numerous R&B bands. His jazz chops have consistently improved since he first tickled the ivories nearly 40 years agom and he has acquired a very tasteful style with lush chord voicing and a wonderful improvisational ability as a consequence of studying under his mentor, the late Morris Nanton of the famed Morris Nanton Trio. He is currently the pianist for the jazz quartet Meant to Be. He co-teaches part-time at Morris County College.
Joining Glen Merritt on piano will be Alan Hayes on bass, Pete Omelio on drums, and John Higgins on trumpet. Meant To Be keeps audiences swinging throughout the night! These four fantastic musicians have been playing together for over 15 years and each feeds off of the others’ enthusiasm and improvisations. Get ready for a very nice treat of some really cool jazz.
Leonieke Scheuble Trio
Leonieke (pronounced “Lay-o-nee-ka”) was just 10 years old when jazz great Dr. Lonnie Smith was shown a clip of her playing piano and gifted her with a Hammond organ. Three years later, she would go on to win “Best Up and Coming Young Artist” at the Hot House Fan Decision Awards.
