On October 11, Oceanport hard rock band Vendetta Rose released their newest single, “Cupid’s Arrow.” Their debut EP, Tilted Directions, was just released in March of this year. Guitarist Nick Marrotta was kind enough to give us a behind-the-scenes look at the band and their process, in our interview below.
Who are the members of Vendetta Rose?
Our frontman is Alec DeMello. Our guitarists are myself and Ryan Graci. Kyle Crowley on bass. And our new drummer is Joey Prince.
Congratulations on the release of your newest single, “Cupid's Arrow.” What was the creative process like (which came first, the melody or the lyrics)?
The music to “Cupid’s Arrow” came to be while I was jamming out and listening to the band Volbeat. The main riff came to me soon after. The lyrics came after with Alec playing around with the concept of finding true love.
Do you have any shows coming up?
We have a couple of great headlining gigs in the coming months. Nothing we can really announce quite yet but we can assure they will be an absolute blast.
Tell us a little bit about your personal journey. How did you get to this point?
All five of us have played in numerous bands before even getting together. We all have the common goal in sharing our music. All of us have now been in the band for a year now with the exception of Joey joining a few months ago.
Do you have any words of advice for people who share a similar passion or have maybe faced similar obstacles/challenges?
Be true to yourself. Be open to accepting help from those that want to help you move your career forward. Don’t be afraid to change your tactics if one way isn’t working. And never give up even when you seriously want to quit.
Finally, what are some ways that fans can connect with you online? (Website? Facebook? Spotify? Etc.?)
Our main platform you can find us is on Instagram. We are @vendettaroseband on Instagram. Keep up with shows and new music on our website at vendettaroseband.com. And all of our music released to date can be found on Spotify and iTunes.
