I've been in this game for over 20 years now. I've done work in almost every genre of photography. But after all this time nothing compares to shooting a live show. I've always had a deep love for music and getting the chance to photograph my favorite artist performing is a sublime experience (yes I shot them too). It also presents a real technical challenge as well. Most sets will last over an hour but I only get the first 3 songs with no flash to work my magic. You need to know your equipment, compose your shots quickly, adjust your focus as your subjects move across the stage, and be aware of constantly changing light which affects your exposures. I'd like to share with you my photos of Clutch at the Starland Ballroom. I've been a fan for quite a few years now. Their frontman Neil Fallon has some major stage presence and a set of pipes that were a gift from the very gods of rock & roll! Enjoy."
