STUDENT-RUN MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL DEBUTS IN HOBOKEN, NJ

PRESS RELEASE
September 7, 2016

Hoboken, NJ – OnPoint Music & Arts Festival is a one day, student-run, two-stage event taking place at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.  Over thirty performing artists represent eclectic scenes across the Northeast, from Northern New York (PWR BTTM, Secret Mountain), to Boston (Speedy Ortiz, Vundabar) and back to New York City (Three Busy Debras, Eskimeaux) along with Stevens acts (Off Center, XPhaze).

The festival will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 and will continue into the night, concluding at 10 p.m..  The lineup, jam-packed with talent, will be holding down two stages, one a stage prime for traditional festival lovers and a smaller stage as a more intimate option.  Both will house bands, spoken word artists, comedy acts, and singer-songwriters throughout the day.

OnPoint will also feature visual art from local collectives and mixed media artists, food from local vendors, and interactive booths run by student organizations.  Taking place on the Stevens campus, festival-goers from students to outside guests will be able to take in a mix of indie rock, hip hop, ambient music, and bedroom pop against the college’s picturesque Manhattan view.  Though free for students who attend the university, $10 tickets for outside guests will go on sale Friday, September 9th via BrownPaperTickets.

Through creating an opportunity for meaningful interaction with a multitude of performing arts, OnPoint strives to bridge the Stevens community with those beyond its gates and break the notion that a traditionally STEM school can’t foster a strong arts culture.
