Nov. 24-27, 2016, Smithville, NJ
By Alex Bradley
Either you come to dine at the historic Smithville Inn, shop at one of the more than 40 unique shoppes and boutiques, or simple stroll along the cobblestone paths and enjoy the beautiful, manicured grounds, there is something for everyone at Historic Smithville and the Village Greene - and what better way to start off the holiday season with attending their Thanksgiving Buffet and Christmas Tree Lighting!
On Thanksgiving, this upcoming Thursday [Nov. 24], Smithville Inn and Fred & Ethel's Tavern will be hosting a traditional Thanksgiving Buffet. Enjoy a delicious, old-time, homemade holiday buffet from 11am until 7pm. With the town's shoppes open from 11am to 5pm, you can even start your holiday shopping early!
But that's not all Historic Smithville has to offer this weekend! It continues from dark until 8:30, Thursday through Sunday, with Christmas Holiday Light Shows. Enjoy popular songs of the season, synchronized with a dazzling Christmas tree light show that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Over 120 Christmas trees constructed from over 50,000 Christmas lights, magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. The moment dusk turns to dark, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights dance to the music, all while reflecting off of the water's surface. The show can be seen from any part of the Village as well as from the bridge.
Historic Smithville has a total of 94 shoppes including ones perfect for your holiday gift ideas such as a candle shoppe, Christmas shop, and even a toy mart. Be sure to stop in the Smithville Bakery for your sweets and Colonial Coffee Cafe for some coffee or hot chocolate to keep you cozy and warm throughout the holiday events!
