Grandsons: Food, Art, and Community All In the Same Place
By Luke Morsa | Posted May 26, 2016
If you’re looking for a place to get a fluffy stack of pancakes while your friends paint a picture or a local musician plays a set of acoustic songs, it sounds like South Jersey’s Grandsons is the place for you. Food-wise, Grandsons has a great menu of delicious choices from breakfast dishes to burgers to vegan-friendly choices. But their diverse menu is just the start of what makes Grandsons the cozy local cafe it truly is. Along with their recipes and cooking skills, Jose Martinez (President of Grandaire Booking) and Maribeth Capelli (Public Relations at Grandaire Booking) bring their love for art and community to the table, making Grandsons such a unique experience.
Grandsons has started holding amazing events called “Artist Nights” once a month. These artist nights are free events which bring out many members of the art and music community. Art is displayed, sold, and even created. The art which is displayed and created includes paintings, drawings, and photographs to name a few. You do not have to be any type of professional artist to partake in these events, just show up ready for a good time. The physical pieces of art are accompanied by acoustic performances
by local musicians that really get the artistic energies flowing. With all of this happening in a cafe, be sure to remember that you can get a bite to eat while you’re enjoying and creating art!
Located on S Egg Harbor Rd in Hammonton, NJ, Grandons is a full-time cafe and brunch restaurant that is just so much more than that. Upcoming events for Grandsons include their first ever Smash Bros tournament “Grand Smash” on June 3rd and their monthly artists night on June 23rd. Any information needed can be found on the Grandsons Facebook page. Events are always being added to Grandsons’ hip and happening schedule, so don’t miss out on any of it!
